- Heading down to the Rock Lab to try and hang my acoustic panels again. Going to get it done this time! #
- Acoustic panels hung, computer/audio/electronics desk rewired from scratch, walls touched up from panel scratches, chairs back in Lab. #
- Hmm. My phantom power issue is returning in a more insidious form in the Rock Lab. Trying to isolate… #
- Listened to a bunch of songs via iTunes with my rebuilt audio setup. All sounds good, but Beach Boys "Pet Sounds" sounds incredible. #
- Dialed in EQ for Yamaha monitors…sounding good. With switchbox pulled out, phantom power issue hasn't returned. Might have to rebuild it.. #
- Trying to figure out why my bass response is so much greater on the PC with the Line6 X3 vs the Mac with the Profire610. Odd. #
- RT @bafadam: Wizards needs to hire @brantsteen to fix their fucking website. That thing is god awful. How do they do business on that? #
- Smirking to myself this morning remembering @trapcast_sara calling out "Hi Snooki!" as we drove near to Jersey on our fun Tour-de-Philly.
# - Speaking of which, I need to thank @TrapCast_Jenn and the gang again for a great day from the hood to history to beer to tacos! #
- I love a brewpub where I can work on design comps on my mac on one corner, and the guys next to me can argue about D.C. Comics Artists.
# - What's your kryptonite? Mine is when people I think should know better whip their minions into a orgy of wrongness. It makes me irrational. #
- Listening to Trans-Siberian Orchestra while brewing my Newcastle clone beer (last beer of 2010!). Thinking of loved ones near and far. #
- Experimentally mixed in a couple of Savatage songs into my Trans-Siberian Orchestra playlist. Didn't notice them go by.
# - Not surprising since TSO includes 3 guys from Savatage.
Including producer Paul O'Neill and guitarists Jon Oliva and Al Pitrelli. # - Newcastle clone beer (last beer of 2010!) is in the fermenter and cleaning is mostly done! Thinking of loved ones near and far. #
- While brewing, watched the documentary "Exit through the gift shop" about a guerilla filmmaker turned overnight street art sensation. Odd. #
- That's what I love about Netflix streaming though – you can watch all kinds of oddly interesting stuff without penalty of time or money… #
- My smoked wheat #homebrew from back in September is finally starting to taste more like peat smoke and less just like hop bitterness.
# - Your average pop song has vignettes, a theme, a *feeling*, but rarely tells a linear story. Blockbuster films are taking this to heart. #
- I guess reality shows are going this way too; the best snippets from a world, without needing a narrative beginning, middle, end. #
- For all media, it makes it easier to drop in / out of when it's a series of vignettes. Drama reacts by going the opposite; e.g. BSG/LOST. #
- I personally don't like each vignette as much as the *transitions*: the build to a hook; a scene snapping between funny and serious. #
- Tension and release, as music theory geeks would put it. The ability to change channels puts tension/release in the viewers control though. #
- One wonders if you could measure in great detail when people crave release, and somehow adjust the media in real time… #
- Had to break out the soldering iron and make an emergency trip to GuitarCenter after I stepped on my guitar cable and jacked up the jack. #
- It should surprise no one that I've been noodling in the background on ideas for building a brewing robot. #
- Thank goodness my popcorn ball craving has finally been at least temporarily satiated! #
- Hm. Capt. Spectacular is surly and extra nihilistic after a day with his stepmom's family. Trying emergency attitude correction beating now. #
- Merry Chistmas! Up at 6 with Cpt. Spectacular! #
- Oddly, Cpt. Spectacular is as excited by his new hoodie as by his PSP! #
- So our cider from September hasn't carbonated much yet…going to try blending a bottle of it with various things this morning.
# - We played LIMBO on the XBOX a bit which is fun when you pass the controller every time you die…not a Christmassy game though!
# - Cpt. Spectacular is off and playing Kingdom Hearts on his PSP…moaning about there being too many cut scenes… #
- And now @Kim_Stone is cackling over all the amazing recipes in Thomas Keller's "ad hoc at home" book. Hope it tastes as good as it looks! #
- Played the "Forbidden Island" boardgame with @Kim_Stone & Capt. Spectacular. Delightfully tense short-form co-op game. > fun than Pandemic! #
- Had to give our demon houseplant another "please don't turn our dining room into a Hentai", including a stake through its heart! #
- Gave our demon houseplant another "please don't turn our dining room into a Hentai" tentacle trimming, including a stake through its heart! #
- I just earned the 'Merry Brew-mas (2010)' badge on @untappd! http://untpd.it/DERcfl #
- Watching "Stories from the Vaults". Best line: "This is on my list of things to do before I die; or on my list of things to die doing." #
